The author of three books, Méndez Negrete’s most recent study is a history of activist leaders in San José, California. Originally from Tabasco, Zacatecas, México, she has lived a transnational life which is chronicled in her first book, Hijas de Juan: Daughters Betrayed. Her experiences raising a special needs son is the subject of her second book. Méndez-Negrete is working on a cook book inspired by her Zacatecas roots and as influenced by her California sensibilities.

Viktoria Valenzuela is the Associate Publisher to Conocimientos Press.

She is a Chicana M(other)writer and poet who holds a MA in English Literature, Creative Writing & Social Justice from Our Lady of the Lake University. Raised in Houston and San Antonio, Texas, Valenzuela attended high school and college in New York. She made a return to San Antonio in 2011 where she has been a human rights advocate, writer, and mother to six children. Her writings can be found in various publications such as at the Poetry Foundation and anthologized in Puro Chicanx Writers of the 21st Century.
